Mania associated with LSD ingestion

A patient experienced a full manic episode after taking LSD or a similar substance. Acute LSD intoxication symptoms resolved, but about three weeks later a typical manic episode of psychotic severity emerged. The mania was successfully treated with lithium therapy.
