Alzheimer's disease involves memory problems and general cognitive decline, often accompanied by mood and behavioral disorders. Since medications have limited effectiveness, non-pharmacological approaches are needed. Mindfulness meditation, which benefits cognitive function and emotional state, appears promising. This narrative literature review surveys studies testing mindfulness-based interventions in people with Alzheimer's disease or at risk of developing it. Such interventions show value for reducing cognitive symptoms (especially attentional and memory problems) and emotional symptoms (particularly depressive affect and anxiety). However, they require several modifications to be suitable for this population.
