A randomized controlled trial assigned 50 pregnant women past 26 weeks gestation to either eight sessions of mindfulness-based cognitive behavioral therapy or no intervention. Before therapy, both groups reported similar body image concern scores. After therapy, the intervention group's average score fell from 58.36 to 41.40, a statistically significant reduction, while the control group's score barely changed from 58.08 to 57.64. The therapy group's post-intervention scores were significantly lower than the control group's. Mindfulness-based cognitive behavioral therapy appears to reduce body image concerns in pregnant women, suggesting mental health professionals could use this approach to support psychological well-being during pregnancy.
