Effect of Online Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction on Psychological Distress and Pregnancy Rate in Infertile Women Undergoing In Vitro Fertilization.

Obstetrics and gynecology international January 1, 2026 Ramin Shiraly, Afra Khani Valizadeh, Sedigheh Amooee et al.

An online mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) program reduced anxiety and showed a borderline decrease in depression among women undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF). The intervention group also had a higher rate of ultrasound-confirmed intrauterine pregnancy. The randomized trial assigned 133 infertile women to either an online MBSR intervention or a control group. The MBSR group attended twice-weekly mindfulness sessions over three months. The authors suggest that online MBSR may effectively reduce psychological distress in women undergoing IVF, with potential benefits for pregnancy outcomes.

A pilot investigation of Geometric Meditation-based Cognitive Behavior Therapy (GM-CBT) for a single case of intractable Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) found that an eight-week treatment program (90-minute sessions per week) led to a significant reduction in OCD symptoms, anxiety, and depression, along with increased mindfulness skills. A three-month follow-up suggested long-lasting beneficial effects. The authors propose GM-CBT as a holistic CBT approach for OCD.
