Efficacy of an online mindfulness program (MindOnLine) to reduce fear of recurrence in people living with-and beyond-breast, prostate or colorectal cancer: a randomized controlled trial.

EClinicalMedicine August 1, 2025 Patricia M Livingston, Natalie Winter, Lahiru Russell et al.

An online mindfulness program, MindOnLine, reduced fear of cancer recurrence, anxiety, and depression in people who had completed treatment for breast, prostate, or colorectal cancer. In a randomized controlled trial with 434 participants, those using the program showed greater improvements at 9 weeks than a waitlist group, with effects sustained at 9 months. The program was self-directed, lasted 9 weeks, and included education and mindfulness practices. The authors suggest such programs can help manage fear of cancer recurrence, though further research is needed to tailor them to diverse populations.
