Yoga and Mindfulness as a Tool for Influencing Affectivity, Anxiety, Mental Health, and Stress among Healthcare Workers: Results of a Single-Arm Clinical Trial

Journal of Clinical Medicine April 1, 2020 G. L. Torre, A. Raffone, Margherita Peruzzo et al.

A single-arm clinical trial tested a four-week combined yoga and mindfulness-based stress reduction course for healthcare workers from two hospitals in Rome. Among forty participants, the Mental Composite Score-12, a quality-of-life measure, rose from a median of 43.5 to 48.1, and negative affect scores fell from 16 to 10. State and trait anxiety scores also decreased. The authors suggest that combining yoga and mindfulness may help healthcare workers reduce stress and anxiety and better manage work-related demands.
