Mindful Moments: Strategies for Alleviating Anxiety in Elementary Students, Both Onsite and Online
Journal of Education, Innovation, and Communication. January 15, 2026 Gina Solano
This qualitative action research project developed and delivered a series of mindfulness lessons to second-grade students to alleviate anxiety. Initially taught in person weekly, the lessons shifted to remote online instruction during the COVID-19 pandemic, continuing to benefit students. Teachers reported noticeable improvements in students' ability to manage anxiety and enhance emotional well-being in both settings. The authors conclude that mindfulness-based interventions were highly effective and recommend incorporating mindfulness practices into daily elementary school routines to support immediate anxiety relief and long-term mental health and resilience.
