Health-Related Quality of Life Outcomes With Regular Yoga and Heartfulness Meditation Practice: Results From a Multinational, Cross-sectional Study

JMIR Formative Research March 10, 2022 J. Thimmapuram, K. Patel, Divya K Madhusudhan et al.

A cross-sectional online survey of 3,164 participants from 39 countries who joined a 100-day virtual yoga and meditation program found that regular practice was associated with better health-related quality of life across all seven measured domains, including quality of life, healthy lifestyle adoption, ability to relax, nervousness and stress frequency, coping with day-to-day stress, workplace productivity, and staying healthy during the COVID-19 pandemic. Experienced Heartfulness meditators (at least two years) reported better outcomes than non-practitioners or those with one year or less of practice. The authors suggest that yoga and meditation support health and well-being, with longer practice linked to greater benefits.
