Effects of Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy on Quality of Life and Mental Health Among Women With Cancer: Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.

SAGE open nursing January 1, 2026 Huyen Thi Hoa Nguyen, Hien Thi Bui, My Huyen Hac et al.

A systematic review and meta-analysis of 13 studies (766 women with cancer, mean age 49.46 years, most with breast cancer) found that mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) improved quality of life and selected mental health outcomes at both post-intervention and at least 3 months follow-up, with the most consistent improvements in fatigue, fear of cancer recurrence, and mindfulness. However, the certainty of evidence was low to very low due to small samples, heterogeneity, and risk of bias. The authors suggest MBCT may be feasibly integrated into survivorship care but urge substantial caution and call for larger, rigorous trials.
