A Molecule-Resolved Bibliometric Analysis of PubMed-Indexed Psychedelic Research (2015–2025): Volume, Temporal Trends, and Publication Types

A bibliometric analysis of PubMed-indexed publications on five psychedelic compounds found 9,334 records, with ketamine the most studied (5,704; 61.1%). Psilocybin grew fastest, from 12 publications in 2015 to 194 in 2025 (CAGR ≈32.1%), setting consecutive annual highs in 2023, 2024, and 2025. DMT rose from 30 to 112 (CAGR ≈14.1%), LSD from 38 to 117 (CAGR ≈11.9%), and psilocin from 3 to 18 (CAGR ≈19.6%). The 2021–2025 share varied: psilocybin 74.0%, psilocin 63.2%, DMT 52.3%, ketamine 38.9%, LSD 34.9%. The authors conclude the literature is expanding, with ketamine dominating overall output and psilocybin showing the fastest contemporary growth.

Exploring Attitudes Toward MDMA-Assisted Therapy in Mental Health Care

A cross-sectional survey of 40 healthcare professionals—psychiatrists, psychiatry residents, and psychotherapists—found cautious optimism about MDMA-assisted therapy for mental health conditions. Although 95% had no direct research involvement with MDMA, 87.5% supported further scientific studies. Most reported limited knowledge, yet 67.5% believed treatment carries risks even under medical supervision. Over 60% recognized potential positive effects, especially with psychological support, which was seen as increasing safety and efficacy. Main barriers were legal regulations (60%), lack of treatment standards (60%), and insufficient training or knowledge (60%). The authors suggest enhancing education, promoting research, and establishing clear frameworks to facilitate safe application.
