Therapeutic effects of yoga and mindfulness on cancer-related pain: a literature-based review

Quality in Sport April 3, 2026 Tetiana Savchak, S B Ivanchuk, Anhelina Kaminskaya et al.

A systematic review of literature from 2012 to 2026 evaluated yoga and mindfulness-based interventions for chronic and acute cancer-related pain. The analysis found significant reductions in pain interference and improvements in pain threshold across patient groups. Mind-body practices down-regulate pro-inflammatory markers and salivary cortisol. Efficacy was validated in pediatric care, peripheral neuropathy, and through cognitive-behavioral approaches. The authors conclude that yoga and mindfulness serve as cost-effective, low-risk non-pharmacological aids that improve quality of life in oncology patients.
