Spiritual mindfulness therapy: An intervention to reduce depression symptoms

Psikohumaniora Jurnal Penelitian Psikologi May 30, 2025 Novia Solichah, Rifa Hidayah, Ermita Zakiyah et al. 2 citations

Spiritual mindfulness therapy significantly reduced depression symptoms among university students. In a Solomon four-group design, 28 students aged 18–22 from Malang were assigned to treatment or control groups. The therapy, delivered in individual and group sessions over eight sessions, was measured with the PHQ-9 before and after the intervention. Results showed a significant difference between groups (F = 18.547, p < .001), with large effect sizes (d = 2.75 to d = 3.33). The authors conclude that spiritual mindfulness therapy can effectively alleviate depressive symptoms in students, offering a promising mental health intervention for educational settings.
