Chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients on hemodialysis often experience psychological distress that lowers their quality of life. This case study of three participants tested whether Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) could improve quality of life. Quantitative and qualitative data were compared. Results showed that MBCT improved participants' quality of life, as seen in increased scores on each aspect of the quality-of-life scale and reports of feeling more enjoyment in life. The intervention taught participants to notice thoughts, feelings, and events without judging them, helping them distinguish thoughts from actual events.
