Telephone-Based Mindfulness Therapy Intervention for Patients with Chronic Pancreatitis.

Digestive diseases and sciences February 1, 2017 Vasiliki Irene Aivaliotis, Yvonne Lee, Jasmine Zia et al.

A telephone-based mindfulness therapy service was tested for feasibility and usability in patients with chronic pancreatitis (CP). Ten patients and five controls used the service daily for 28 days. Compliance was 67%, and the mean System Usability Scale score of 79.3 exceeded the average benchmark of 68. CP patients showed significant improvement in SF-36 Mental Component Summary scores and in total Pancreatitis Quality of Life Instrument scores, particularly in the social domain. The authors conclude the service is a feasible and usable treatment adjunct that may improve mental health-related quality of life in CP patients.
