Mindfulness therapy for patients with coronary heart disease: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

International Journal of Nursing Practice December 1, 2024 Weina Li, Xiaoqin Liao, Dandan Geng et al.

A meta-analysis of eight studies with 802 participants found that mindfulness-based interventions reduced anxiety, depression, perceived stress, and systolic blood pressure in patients with coronary heart disease compared to control groups. There was no significant effect on diastolic blood pressure, quality of life, or body mass index. One study reported improved sleep quality in patients with acute myocardial infarction after percutaneous coronary intervention, but no significant effect on body mass index. The findings suggest mindfulness-based interventions benefit certain psychological and physiological outcomes in this population.
