Internet-based Brief Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy as an Adjunct to Standard Care After Acute Myocardial Infarction: A Pilot Randomized Controlled Study

Indian Journal of Clinical Cardiology May 31, 2026 S. D. Kashyap, Shweta Singh, Rishi Sethi et al.

An internet-based brief mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (B-MBCT) program added to usual care reduced depression, anxiety, stress, and illness perception, and improved mindfulness skills and quality of life more than usual care alone in 18 adults who had recently had a heart attack and had mild to moderate depressive symptoms. The intervention consisted of 8 weekly online sessions. Effect sizes were large across outcomes. The authors conclude the approach appears feasible and promising, but larger trials are needed to confirm the results.
