A randomized trial compared an 8-week mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) program with a health promotion program (HPP) in 89 Portuguese-speaking older immigrants in Luxembourg. Both groups showed similar improvements in attention, anxiety, and perceived stress from baseline to post-intervention, which persisted at follow-up. No significant differences emerged between the two programs. The authors suggest that well-designed group interventions, regardless of specific content, may improve cognitive and affective indicators in vulnerable older adults, pointing to their potential value for healthy aging and dementia prevention.
