The Doors of Perception

June 12, 2026 M. R. Hasan

The chapter argues that altered states of consciousness, whether induced by psychedelics, meditation, or rational inquiry, can unlock ordinarily constrained perceptual potential. Drawing on Aldous Huxley's mescaline experiments and his concept of the brain as a "reducing valve," the text contrasts these visionary experiences with artificial intelligence "hallucinations" to highlight their intrinsic differences. It raises the challenge of creating coherent intelligence from unfiltered reality, proposing that such experiences open access to hidden territories of awareness.
