Methamphetamine users had a mean dissociative symptom score of 15.3 on the Dissociative Experiences Scale, with significantly higher depersonalization/derealization scores than controls. Among 50 users, 18 (36%) were diagnosed with a dissociative disorder, and 17 reported possession experiences. A significant correlation emerged between dissociative experiences and positive psychotic symptoms. The findings suggest methamphetamine can induce dissociative psychosis.
