Association of Hallucinogen Use With Psychosocial Outcomes: Secondary Analysis of the Spinal Cord Injury Model Systems Database.

Topics in spinal cord injury rehabilitation January 1, 2025 Kayleigh Crane, Angela Hanks Philippus, Jennifer Coker et al.

Among 9,976 people with spinal cord injuries, only 0.7% reported using hallucinogens in the prior three months. Younger age, male sex, recent falls, and sleep disturbances were associated with hallucinogen use. Hallucinogen use was linked to higher depression scores but not to quality of life scores. This exploratory study provides initial data on hallucinogen use in this population, which has not been previously examined.
