Dissociative experiences as mediators between childhood trauma and auditory hallucinations.

Among 71 patients with psychosis, childhood trauma was linked to higher dissociation, hallucinations, and delusions. Dissociative experiences, particularly depersonalization, mediated the relationship between childhood trauma and hallucinations but not between childhood trauma and delusions. This suggests the impact of childhood trauma on hallucinations may operate partly through dissociation rather than being entirely direct.
