The `Social' in Social Work Practice

Social work practice has overlooked the religious dimension, thereby denying its own social foundations and missing a valuable resource for both clients and practitioners. Chinese shamanic healing is compared with casework practice, and the implications for restoring the social aspect of social work are discussed.
