QUANTUM REALITY, THE EMERGENCE OF COMPLEX ORDER FROM VIRTUAL STATES, AND THE IMPORTANCE OF CONSCIOUSNESS IN THE UNIVERSE

Quantum phenomena indicate that the material world has a nonmaterial basis, reality is an indivisible wholeness, and elementary particles possess rudimentary aspects of consciousness. A quantum perspective of biological evolution suggests that complex order in the biosphere emerges not from nothing but by actualizing virtual quantum states—empty states that are part of the mathematical structure of material systems, representing a logical order that is not materially real but has the potential to become real through quantum jumps. This implies a transcendent reality underlying and immanent to the visible world, from which new forms constantly evolve.
