Buddhist meditation for vascular function: A narrative review.

Buddhist meditation may improve vascular endothelial function and reduce blood pressure by lowering inflammation, increasing nitric oxide, and improving glycemic control. A review of five studies found that this low-cost, low-risk practice reduced plasma inflammatory markers and enhanced endothelial vasodilation and arterial stiffness in both young and older adults. These effects support meditation's potential as a complementary approach for managing hypertension and cardiovascular risk, though more systematic research is needed.
