Evaluating Rajyoga Meditation for Mitigating Post-Traumatic Effects in Flood-Impacted Communities

International Journal of Innovative Science and Research Technology February 24, 2026 T. Mallick

A randomized controlled trial tested whether Rajyoga meditation, taught by the Brahma Kumaris, reduces post-trauma symptoms in flood survivors in West Bengal, India. Among 100 survivors (50 in the meditation group, 50 in the control group), the meditation group showed significantly lower depression scores and significantly higher self-efficacy scores compared to the control group. No significant changes were found in resilience, and sleep quality showed only insignificant results. The review also compares flood victims' psychosomatic illness with that of slum residents in the same region.
