The Effects of Holy Name Meditation on Spiritual Well-being, Depression, and Anxiety of Patients With Cancer

Journal of Hospice and Palliative Nursing August 1, 2018 Jinsun Yong, Junyang Park, Juhu Kim et al.

Cancer patients who completed a 5-week Holy Name Meditation program showed increased spiritual well-being and decreased anxiety and depression compared to a control group, with no difference in pain. The experimental group had higher baseline anxiety and depression, but after controlling for those scores the meditation group improved significantly. The program is recommended for clinical settings to reduce psychosocial and spiritual suffering.
