Reanimated: Navigating Life After a Near-Death Experience.
Narrative inquiry in bioethics January 1, 2020 James M DuBois
Twelve personal accounts of near-death experiences (NDEs) that occurred in medical or surgical settings are presented alongside three expert commentaries from specialists in NDEs, healthcare ethics, spiritual counseling, and chaplaincy. The narratives and commentaries show that healthcare workers' reactions to NDEs can have lasting positive or negative effects on patients and families. The symposium points out gaps in current care and offers guidance for nonjudgmental and supportive responses to NDEs.
