On Subtle Bodies, Out-of-Body Experiences, and Apparitions of the Living: A Review of Ernesto Bozzano's Study of "Bilocation"

A historical review examines Ernesto Bozzano's 1934 book on the concept of a 'subtle body' separable from the physical body, which has been invoked to explain apparitions of the living, distance photography, near-death experiences, and out-of-body experiences (OBEs). The author traces this idea through Bozzano's analysis of pre-1930s OBE cases, noting that while the issues Bozzano discussed have limited contemporary value, they can stimulate further discussion. The approach is mainly historical, aiming to acquaint modern readers with Bozzano's work and highlight passages that deepen understanding of specific aspects of the topic.
