Déjà vu experiences are rarely associated with pathological dissociation.

In 227 adult volunteers, déjà vu experiences occurred in 162 (71.4%) individuals. While initial analysis showed a correlation between déjà vu frequency and dissociative experiences, this link disappeared after accounting for other factors. The strongest predictors of dissociative experiences were age, jamais vu, depersonalization, and precognitive dreams. Déjà vu experiences were not associated with pathological dissociation. The findings suggest that déjà vu is unlikely to be a core pathological dissociative experience.
