Bad dream, nightmares and psychopathology: a systematic review

Psychiatric populations experience nightmares and bad dreams significantly more often than the general population, and the presence of nightmares tends to worsen patients' clinical symptoms. A systematic review of 34 studies published since 2014 found a consistent link between nightmares and psychopathology, but the available research is still too limited to explain the basis of this relationship.
