Dreaming about Dogs: An Online Survey.

Animals : an open access journal from MDPI October 19, 2020 Michael Schredl, Christian Bailer, Muriel Sophie Weigel et al.

Dogs appear in about 5% of remembered dreams on average, but this percentage is much higher among dog owners and people with close contact with dogs. Active time spent with a dog and proximity during sleep are also linked to a higher percentage of dreams that include dogs. Although dog dreams are generally more positively toned than other dreams, about 11% of dog dreams involve threatening dogs. People who had negative waking-life experiences with dogs reported more threatening dog dreams. These findings support the continuity hypothesis of dreaming, which holds that dream content reflects waking-life experiences.
