Archetypes of Knowing.

Integral Transpersonal Journal March 15, 2026 Vaid Atwal Ranpreet Singh

Human knowledge can be reimagined through three archetypal gestures of consciousness present in every person: the analytical clarity of the Scientist, the contemplative insight of the Mystic/Seer, and the metaphorical-resonant perception of the Poet. Drawing from Ayurvedic psychology—where cognition, affect, and perception are expressions of a psychophysiological field (śarīra–manas) rather than disembodied mental events—the essay critiques the fragmentation of modern cognition and proposes reintegrating knowledge with being. The body is not a passive object of study but a living instrument (sādhana) for inner alignment. Knowing becomes transformational, restoring presence and participation in reality, with healing arising from the integrity of attention.
