Devotion (Bhakti Yoga) fosters self-transcendence—rising beyond personal ego and self-interest to connect with a higher purpose and divine consciousness—by promoting selfless love, surrender, and ego-dissolution. Drawing on ancient texts such as the Bhagavad Gita and the Navadha Bhakti tradition, this conceptual analysis argues that Bhakti serves as a transformative practice that dissolves personal identity into a higher consciousness, transcending material limitations and ego-driven desires. The paper integrates these traditional perspectives to show how devotion enhances both spiritual elevation and psychological well-being, bridging ancient wisdom with modern psychological discourse.
