Religious experience and mystical intuition share common elements—such as reception by the heart, removal of negligence, concentration on God, and attaining perdition and presence—yet they differ in key respects. Mystical intuition requires suffering austerity and effort over time, while religious experience can occur without such preliminaries and is accessible even to those without religion. Mystical intuition is thus considered superior and holds an outstanding position in public belief. Divine lights and unseen secrets are essential constitutions of both.
