The personality and teachings of the 11th-century Sufi mystic Abu Sa'id Abu'l-Khair align with Abraham Maslow's concept of mystical or peak experience. The analysis shows that Abu Sa'id's emphasis on humanity and his efforts to foster spiritual growth in others correspond to the characteristics Maslow described for individuals who have had peak experiences, such as self-actualization and a focus on the welfare of others.
