A 10-day vipassana meditation program reduced psychosocial problems among adults with alcohol dependence syndrome. In a pre-experimental study with 30 participants selected by convenience sampling, psychosocial problems were assessed before and after the meditation intervention using a checklist. A paired t test showed that the meditation was effective in lowering the level of psychosocial problems related to alcohol dependence. The findings suggest that vipassana meditation may help address psychosocial difficulties in this population, though more research is needed to support comprehensive care.
