Effectiveness of Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) in Reducing Aggression of Individuals at the Juvenile Correction and Rehabilitation Center

International journal of high risk behaviors and addiction December 1, 2013 A. Milani, Z. Nikmanesh, A. Farnam

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy training (MBCT) reduced aggression in adolescent males at a juvenile correction and rehabilitation center. In an experimental study with 22 participants, those who received eight group MBCT sessions showed significantly lower overall aggression, anger, physical aggression, and hostility at both posttest and two-week follow-up compared to a control group. No significant reduction was found for verbal aggression. The findings suggest MBCT can be an effective intervention for reducing aggressive behaviors in this population.
