Transandantal Meditasyonun Ortaya Çıkışı, Tarihsel Gelişimi ve Türkiye’deki Durumu

Bartın Üniversitesi İslami İlimler Fakültesi Dergisi October 10, 2025 Hacer Yasdıman

Transcendental Meditation is a new religious movement that originated in India in 1957, founded by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, and spread widely in the United States and globally. It is rooted in Hindu reformist traditions, drawing on the Vedas, Upanishads, and Bhagavad-Gita, and based on the Advaita philosophy of Shankara. The movement promotes a unique mantra meditation technique described as transcending thought to achieve a naturally silent and alert mind. Proponents claim it reduces stress, manages anxiety, lowers blood pressure, and increases life satisfaction. The study examines the movement's origins, founder's life, teachings, historical phases, and its development and activities in Turkey.
