The Effect of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) on Depression, Cognition, and Immunity in Mild Cognitive Impairment: A Pilot Feasibility Study

Clinical Interventions in Aging August 1, 2020 Rafał Marciniak, R. Šumec, M. Vyhnálek et al.

An 8-week mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) program for people with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) reduced depressive symptoms both immediately after the program and at a 6-month follow-up, and produced a small improvement in psychomotor speed that did not persist. Changes in immune profiles were detected in both the MBSR and cognitive training groups, with more pronounced changes in the MBSR group. The program was well accepted, though participants with more severe cognitive decline had lower adherence to home practice.
