Observasi Jurnal Publikasi Ilmu Psikologi May 11, 2026 Robertus Surjoseto, Devy Sofyanty
Mindfulness therapy reduced depressive symptoms in cancer patients at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital, Jakarta. In a single-group pretest-posttest design with 30 patients who met depression criteria, the therapy produced a statistically significant large effect (p = 0.000) on depression scores measured with the Beck Depression Inventory II. Patients also showed improved understanding of depression and mindfulness, better emotional coping strategies, and reported feeling happier, more positive, less hopeless, and more effective in communication and problem-solving. The findings support mindfulness therapy as a contribution to preventing and treating depression in cancer patients and improving their quality of life.
