Visual Snow Syndrome Improves With Modulation of Resting-State Functional MRI Connectivity After Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy: An Open-Label Feasibility Study.

Journal of neuro-ophthalmology : the official journal of the North American Neuro-Ophthalmology Society March 1, 2024 Sui H Wong, Giuseppe Pontillo, Baris Kanber et al.

An 8-week mindfulness-based cognitive therapy program customized for visual symptoms (MBCT-vision) was tested in an open-label feasibility study with 21 adults who have visual snow syndrome. Symptom severity and impact on daily life improved at Week 9 and Week 20 compared with baseline, and wellbeing and distress scores also improved. Brain imaging in a subset of participants showed changes in functional connectivity of visual networks from baseline to Week 20. The therapy appeared feasible and associated with symptom improvement and modulation of visual network connectivity.
