Effect of Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Intervention on Undergraduate Nursing Students’ Stress

Tahsin Raana, Fozia Fatima, Shazia Zaheer et al.

An 8-week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program, including meditation, yoga, and body scans, significantly reduced stress in 80 second-year undergraduate nursing students from a college in Rawalpindi, Pakistan. Stress was measured before, immediately after, and one month following the program using the DASS-42 stress subscale. The reduction was statistically significant and sustained at follow-up. The program worked equally well regardless of students' age, educational background, or region. MBSR appears to be an effective and uniform intervention for lowering stress and improving well-being in this population.
