Creativity and Higher States of Consciousness

In medias res September 12, 2022 Tihoni Brčić 1 citation

Human experience comprises three realities: dream reality, artist-created virtual reality, and physical reality. Primary senses are incomplete without extrasensory senses that grant access to higher states of consciousness, which artists often use as sources of creativity and inspiration. Real-time neurofeedback reveals theta-frequency brainwave activity in a creativity-related hypnagogic state; alpha and delta frequencies also relate to creativity, with alpha observed during inspiration and theta during transcendental meditation and deep sleep. Techniques to induce higher states include dream machines, mind machines, binaural beats, hallucinogenic drugs, float tanks, meditation, hypnotherapy, and energy healing, with meditation being most effective and also enabling control over lucid dreaming and out-of-body experiences. The author argues that higher states of consciousness are legitimate sources of creativity and essential for holistic health.
