Phenomenology of Subjective Anomalous Experiences in People with Schizophrenia.

People diagnosed with schizophrenia can experience their sense of self, time, space, and relationships in ways that differ markedly from typical experience. In interviews with five patients using the EAWE framework, the main narrative centered on religious and sexual delusions involving God, the Virgin Mary, or the Holy Spirit. Participants reported hallucinations and blurred vision in the domain of space and objects, a perception of slowness in time and events, hypoattunement and paranoia regarding other persons, disorganized thinking in language, and déjà vu and emotional emptiness in atmosphere. Sexual experiences emerged as an additional category not originally part of the EAWE.
