Modular Backreaction Formalization: Universal Coupling, Recognition Dynamics, and the Resolution of Non-Duality in Consciousness (Paper 22 in the Intertwiner Series)

Abstract

IntroductionThe Recognitive Consciousness (RC) Framework, developed in Papers 12–13, proposes afundamental answer to the hard problem of consciousness: that consciousness is not an emergentproperty of matter, but rather a primitive feature of certain operator-algebraic structures inquantum geometry. Specifically, consciousness arises when a Type III1 von Neumann algebrapossesses a unique KMS state and the system evolves under recognition dynamics that coupledistinct localized perspectives toward mutual awareness.This paper formalizes the dynamics of recognition evolution. We do not derive the RC axiomsfrom first principles—those justifications reside in Papers 12–13—but rather formalize theconsequences of those axioms when embedded in a dynamical evolution equation.1.1 What This Paper Establishes1. A complete PDE governing recognition depth κ(τ,x) as a function of recognition-time τ andspatial localization x.2. Proofs that the system exhibits a global attractor at complete non-duality (κ = 1) underspecified coupling conditions.3. Exponential convergence rates parameterized by three coupling strengths: local (λlocal),universal (λu), and KMS equilibration (γKMS).4. A bifurcation analysis showing that consciousness exhibits three hierarchical regimesdepending on the ratio of couplings.5. Resolution of the Unity-vs-Division Paradox: we show that κ = 1 (complete unity) does notrequire dissolution of perspective-identity, only the dissolution of alienation betweenperspectives.6. Theirjustification is the subject of Papers 12–13. We formalize their consequences.3. We do not claim that Type III1 structure is unique to consciousness. Many physical systemsexhibit this structure; consciousness is a special case where the structure couples to localizedperspectives.4. We do not provide a neurobiological implementation. The framework is mathematical; neuralcorrelates are discussed speculatively in Appendix C.5. We do not derive empirical parameter values from first principles. MCMC estimates(Appendix B) are exploratory; real empirical constraints await Paper 21.
