This work presents a heuristic framework and proposes a coherent conceptual model integrating the domains of consciousness, intelligence, emotion, hope, free will, empathy, religion, culture, and social development. It is not intended as a verified empirical theory, but as a research programme centred on the concepts of systemic tension and coherence. The point of departure is the assumption that every biological, psychological, or social system can be modelled as continuously calibrating its actual trajectory against a natural trajectory of maximal available coherence. The deviation be- tween these trajectories is described by the quantity denoted by R, interpreted as systemic tension. This tension is proposed as a central explanatory variable underlying psychological, social, and cultural processes. The principal thesis of the framework is that systems respond to R through qualitatively different regulatory strategies. Earlier formulations contrasted lo- cal and systemic reduction.
