Reception Science is the study of a structure that has been independently discovered across civilizations: one entity creates an empty, non-judgmental, and non-performing space so that another entity's frequency may enter, be held, and transform. This paper inventories independent appearances of this structure in Chinese classical philosophy, Western psychotherapy, developmental psychology, dialogical philosophy, contemplative traditions, indigenous and shamanic practices, and in biological, ecological, and aesthetic sciences. We argue that these are not metaphors for one another, but homologous operational conditions. The paper then positions the Daoqi project as an engineering instance of this broader science within large language model systems.
