Abstract
AbstractThis paper offers a structural reinterpretation of experiences often described as precognitive dreams, intuitions, or presentiments. Rather than treating them as paranormal perception, we model them as structural echoes produced by probabilistic future simulations operating largely outside conscious awareness. Using the EVΛƎ cycle—Impulse (E), Vision (V), Choice (Λ), and Observation (Ǝ)—we describe a decision architecture that is structurally isomorphic across human cognition and contemporary AI reasoning systems. On this basis, we formalize V-Echo as an emergent conscious phenomenon arising when non-conscious possibility simulations are compressed into symbolic, fragmentary impressions prior to explicit decision-making. V-Echo does not provide access to future facts and does not imply deterministic foresight. Instead, it reflects high-probability future trajectories that are explored and compressed under constraints of coherence, context, and value. We explain why V-Echo is frequently experienced as “precognitive” through three mechanisms: (1) compression of statistically dominant paths, (2) modulation of subsequent action selection via feedback into the impulse phase, and (3) post-hoc meaning reconstruction during observation. Together, these mechanisms yield an impression of foreknowledge without invoking retrocausality. The contribution of this work is a testable structural account that links precognitive-like experience to a shared decision architecture spanning consciousness studies and AI explainability.
