Journal of oral and maxillofacial surgery April 29, 2021 Prashanthi Gurram, V. Narayanan, S. Chandran et al.
A single session of heartfulness meditation before impacted third molar surgery reduced intraoperative anxiety, as measured by the Spielberger State-Trait Anxiety Inventory, compared to a control group. The difference was statistically significant. However, the meditation did not significantly reduce dental anxiety or intraoperative pain perception. The study included 60 participants randomly assigned to a meditation group or a control group.
