Mindfulness‐based stress reduction (MBSR) and distress in a community‐based sample

Clinical Psychology & Psychotherapy November 1, 2011 Susan Evans, Stephen Ferrando, Corey Carr et al.

An 8-week mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) programme was associated with reduced psychological distress and increased mindful awareness in a community sample of 14 participants. Significant reductions occurred on multiple dimensions of distress measured by the Profile of Mood States, and scores on the Mindful Attention Awareness Scale increased. The results suggest MBSR may help relieve mild to moderate distress in urban community residents.
